Our extended care programme runs for 90 days (12 weeks). Longer stays are possible. Under certain circumstances a stay of 30 days is considered. Our best recovery results have been obtained by people who committed to the full 12 week recovery programme.
We typically have a community filled with a core group of younger adults as well as older adults. All ages are represented at Montrose Place, from 18 years to 60-plus.
Your day begins at 7:00am with some time to embrace the new day. After breakfast at 8:00am you’ll participate in lectures, group- or community meetings or take part in various forms of therapy sessions. Just before lunch you’ll get together with your appointed counsellor for an individual counselling session. The afternoons are filled with reflection, meditation or creative activities. Before dinner you’ll have two hours of private time to write your journal, read or make contact with family and friends. A fellowship and support group meeting will be the last group activity in the evening. Your day will end at 10:00pm but will give you the opportunity to relax and reflect on your experiences at Montrose Place.
We only work with clients who struggle with substance and process addictions. These include drug and alcohol dependence, pathological gambling, sex addiction and co-dependency. We are able to treat people who present with an active addiction who also have an underlying secondary condition such as a mood disorder or personality disorder. We are not a general psychiatric facility working with acute mental illnesses, and do not allow anyone to remain on the programme if they are using drugs or alcohol or acting out behaviourally.
